Football spring schedule announced
Sam Houston State head football coach Todd Whitten has announced the spring practice schedule for 2008.
The spring season will kick off March 17 and the Bearkats will work out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, with scrimmages on Saturday mornings. The only days the Kats will not workout will be the Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend.
The annual Orange and White game will be held April 19 with the morning kickoff time to be announced.
For the Bearkats, seven starters return on offense and five on defense, including first-team All-SLC defensive lineman Chris Brown.
One of positions up for grabs this spring will be on the offensive line where the Bearkats graduated three players from last season.
The coaching staff will also begin the process of replacing All-American tight end Blake Martin as well as 2007 SLC first teamers Byron Richmond (defensive back) and Brandon Hale (offensive line).
Practices will be open to the public and fans can watch the spring game for free.
