Stoops Not Sweating QB Decision
One of the more interesting storylines for the upcoming college football season is who will win the starting quarterback job at Oklahoma. Deciding between three unproven prospects is sure to take a toll on the Sooners' head coach Bob Stoops. Or maybe not. "This isn't the NFL, where you have a guy for 12 years, Joe Montana," Stoops said. "This is natural, it's college football. Guys come and guys go. It's always been that way and always will be. I don't look at it as an issue. It's not like we haven't had this issue in eight years. We've had it many times and we've managed it fairly well." That's certainly one way of downplaying last season's dismissal of Rhett Bomar, but it's clear that the Sooners are still feeling its repercussions. Especially when you factor in the Tommy Grady's transfer to Utah, because he thought he would be stuck behind Rhett Bomar. A year ago Stoops mended his QB situation by moving wide receiver Paul Thompson back under center. How this year's scenario will play out is still up in the air. Stoops, however remains unfazed. "So in the end, it doesn't matter. It's just all about, in our business, building guys, improving guys, giving them experience and shaping them. That's what's exciting about our job, being able to do that. And these guys have talent. They're good, sharp, young guys. So we look forward to having that chance, just to mold 'em, build 'em, shape 'em and give 'em snaps." See more
