Bradford's second act (The Norman Transcript) This will be a different season for Oklahoma. The expectations remain as high as they’ve ever been. The switch is having an established starting quarterback. The difference is an experienced Sam Bradford.

Taking charge (The Hunstville Item) Most football coaches are quick to point out that the defense is usually ahead of the offense at this point in fall camp.Last weekend, that wasn’t the case as the Bearkats moved the ball with ease during a situational scrimmage. But Saturday morning at Bowers Stadium, it was the defense’s time to shine.

Stoops' route: Raising OU's program from post-John Blake to national champions and beyond (The Oklahoman) Here is a look at Bob Stoops' tenure with Oklahoma. Stoops enters his 10th season as Sooner head coach. He was hired to replace John Blake in 1998 and has won a national championship and played for two others. All the quotes in this timeline are from Stoops. Complete timeline at www.NewsOK.com/Stoops 1997•Jan. 2: With Bob Stoops as defensive coordinator, Florida wins national championship. ...

ECU's Ada influx (Ada Evening News) The East Central University football team appeared to end spring practice four months ago with a little more swagger than most observers would have expected from a team that won just five of 26 games the past two seasons. Rhett Bomar Quotes:

“I'm a competitor. I'm a fiery guy. I like to wing it around when I go in there. When I go in there, I'm just going to have fun and everybody's going to see the way I play.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I'm going to get to play, so that's good, ... I'm just going to have to come off and be ready when my opportunity comes in the game. I'm going to be cold coming off, but I just have to go in there and compete, play my game and have fun.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“What do you think my reaction is,”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I have a great opportunity to go out there and do some things to establish myself. I'm really excited. This is what I've been working for. It's what I've been trying to do all my life and now it's here.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“This is the kind of opportunity I've been working for my whole life, ... I thought I could have played better, but I think I did all right as a whole. You need a continued number of reps to really get into a rhythm. This will be my first time to get significant playing time.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“We expected that coming in, because we wanted to establish a physical presence on the O-line. To tell you the truth, I really don't care as long as we win. It's not high school anymore where you're looking to put up stats. We're all about the W.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“It wasn't the best offensive game we could have had. Everybody wants to do better than that, but we won and that's all that matters. It's only going to get better. There ain't nowhere to go but up.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“It`s there. We`ve just got to execute, and we`re very capable of doing that, ... I think that we`ll do it much better Saturday.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

"We have the plays that will work and we know what to do.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I don't think anybody is going to say much to football players, ... These guys are big.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“We were just thinking about winning the game, ... We just wanted to establish a physical presence. All that matters is that we won.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“Everyone is going to try to shut A.P. down, and me and the receivers are going to have to step up, ... We're not worried about that.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“[Bomar said a diversified approach would be key to beating UCLA.] We're not going to be able to run every play and have him take that beating, ... Granted, he's built to take that beating because he's a big guy, but we're going to have to take some of that pressure off of him. They're going to stack the box and we're going to have to respond.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I think we're determined. I don't think there's any uncertainty. We got the win last week and everyone is excited. I think we're ready to try to get back to playing Oklahoma football.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“We made our fair share of mistakes, but we grew as an offense today, ... We got better than we have been the previous two weeks. We're making progress, so I think we'll be all right.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“We progressed as an offense, ... Everybody was talking about how terrible we were after last week. I thought we did much better today.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I didn't take any bad shots,”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I find it hard to believe Rhett would ever give up football, ... But I guess it is too early to tell. We'll just see what happens, but I do not see him giving up football.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“It was seven more points and a sign of how we played, ... Next year, I'm going to come out and play much better.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“It's just a learning experience. (Young) showed the improvement over the years. That's what I'm looking for next year.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“It leaves a bad taste because lost, and at a place like this, that's not acceptable.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I didn't take any bad shots. I'm not ever very sore. But I don't think I can slide.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I don't think I can root for them to win. I have great respect for them as a team, but that can't make me a fan for just one game, no matter who they're playing.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“I did have my struggles, and I'm not going to shy away from that. But as the year progressed, I got more comfortable.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“Everybody was doubting us, but we really came on at the end of the year. We started running and came on in the second half.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“Even though we were hurting them with passes, we needed to get the running game going to beat them.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“We came out firing (in the second half). We saw some things in the first half that we thought we could take advantage of. We started running the ball in the third quarter, and that helped a lot in the passing game.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“We opened up our playbook. The short passes gave us more options. In the second half, we were able to balance things out and run better.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“One of those first two screens, he might of taken it a long way if he doesn't have those blue numbers. A touch or a little hand tackle isn't going to tackle Adrian.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...

“Everybody knows he's a great player. He's 100% healthy right now and he's going to be dangerous.”
- Rhett Bomar Quotes...
